Crew member arrested in St Kitts on sex charges

St Kitts Police confirmed the arrest of a cruise ship crew member for a sexual offence allegedly committed in the territorial waters of St Kitts-Nevis.

In a statement issued a week after the arrest, the police said that in collaboration with the captain and crew of the Carnival Valor, they had conducted an investigation into an allegation of a sexual offence which was committed on the ship on Friday June 6.

The statement said an intense collaborative investigation took place on the vessel into the alleged sexual offence which was committed on a passenger, and led to the formal arrest and charging of the crew member.

Police Commissioner through the statement thanked the crew members for their cooperation and assistance during the investigation, and also expressed his sympathy to the victim and her family.

The statement did not disclose the name of detained crew member.
