Crew Member Raises Concerns Over MSC Cruises Performance Evaluations

Submitted by kgnadmin on

A crew member from MSC Cruises has reached out to Crew Center to shed light on a growing concern regarding the company’s performance evaluation process. According to the crew member, who has worked with MSC for several years, the current system used to evaluate employees seems increasingly flawed and biased, causing frustration and delays for many hardworking individuals.

The crew member shared their troubling observations about how evaluations are conducted, noting that, in numerous cases, they do not accurately reflect the actual performance of the crew. Instead, personal relationships between crew members and their managers appear to play a more significant role in the evaluation process. This has led to skilled and dedicated employees being unfairly evaluated, which in turn causes delays in contract renewals and prolonged periods of uncertainty for crew members.

“Some of my colleagues have been waiting over seven months at home without a scheduled return date,” the crew member stated, highlighting the real-life consequences of the flawed evaluation process. This situation has not only been demoralizing for many, but it also impacts the company itself. Talented and experienced employees are sitting idle at home instead of contributing to MSC’s success.

The crew member expressed how difficult it is for the workforce to advocate for themselves when their evaluations in the IPMs (Individual Performance Management) do not reflect their true abilities and work ethic. “It is damaging the morale and productivity of the workforce,” the crew member said.

They urged MSC Cruises to review its evaluation system, calling for a more objective and transparent process that would benefit both crew members and the company as a whole.

As MSC continues to grow and expand its operations, maintaining a motivated and valued workforce will be important for the company's future success. Ensuring that evaluations are genuinely reflective of performance could play a vital role in achieving this goal.

Let’s hope MSC Cruises takes these concerns to heart and works towards environment where hard work, dedication, and true talent are recognized and rewarded.
