Crew member threatens to jump from Oasis of the Seas

A crewmember threatened to jump from Oasis of the Sea on Saturday morning while the Royal Caribbean cruise ship was docked at Port Everglades. According to Broward Sheriff’s Office the man in his 30s, was standing on the cruise ship rail for several hours after negotiators managed to pull him back to safety. 

Broward sheriff’s department responded to the suicide threat at 10 a.m. which ended at 12:45 p.m. when officers got close enough to physically prevent him from jumping. Also involved in the rescue operation were dive teams, Port Everglades authorities and Broward Sheriff's Fire Rescue department. 

The crew member was taken to Broward Health Medical for treatment.
