Crystal Cruises Cancels Ports in Turkey Over Security Issues

Crystal Cruises announced cancellation of Crystal Symphony arrival in Turkey for two upcoming cruises.

The company released a statement on Friday saying that it was cancelling stops to Kusadası and İstanbul, Turkey which had been scheduled ports for Crystal Symphony.

The cruise line said "in response to ongoing security concerns." it was rerouting the ships itinerary because of the latest bombing in İstanbul killing 10 tourists. 

"The security and peace of mind of our guests are our main concern, and we will not put them at risk," said President and CEO of Crystal, Edie Rodriguez.

"Itinerary changes will allow our guests to continue their vacations planned, the same standard of excellence and luxury, without the worry on the safety data from this particular target at this time."

Crystal Symphony voyages departing on April 24 and May 1 2016 will include destinations in Greece instead of originally planned Kusadasi (Ephesus), and overnight in Istanbul.

* Souda Bay / Chaina

* Navplion (overnight)

* * Hydra and Athens / Piraeus (overnight).

* Athens / Piraeus (overnight)

* Patmos

* Rhodes

Mykonos

Santorini

Navplion

Argostoli

Crotone

Sorrento

Rome / Civitavecchia.

 

Crystals new luxury ship, Crystal Esprit will also cancel the arrival in Turkey scheduled for April and November, the cruise line said.

Celebrity Cruises announced In September that will replace all overnights to İstanbul in 2016 and will stay only for a day in this port.

Royal Caribbean says it is "closely monitoring" the security situation in Turkey and has not modified any upcoming arrivals to İstanbul.
