Disney Cruise Line celebrated the keel laying of its latest ship, the Disney Destiny, at the Meyer Werft shipyard set to be completed in 2025. The Disney Destiny will join the fleet as a Triton-class vessel, following its sister ships, the Disney Treasure, set for delivery later this year, and the Disney Wish, which began service in 2022.
Weighing in at 140,000 gross tons, the Disney Destiny will be designed to enchant guests with a "heroes and villains" theme, drawing inspiration from classic Disney tales including The Lion King, Hercules, and One Hundred and One Dalmatians. This thematic venture aims to celebrate the legacy of Disney's storied past, bringing to life beloved characters and narratives in an entirely new setting for guests.
Sharon Siskie, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Disney Cruise Line, expressed excitement for the Disney Destiny's role in the company's continued commitment in family cruising. "The Disney Destiny will celebrate our most legendary Disney stories and characters, bringing them to life in new and exciting ways exclusively for Disney Cruise Line guests," Siskie said.
In addition to the Disney Destiny and Disney Treasure, Disney Cruise Line is preparing to welcome the Disney Adventure to its fleet in 2025. This ship, originally constructed for Genting Dream Cruises and currently under construction in Germany, was acquired by the Disney Group after Genting's bankruptcy in 2022. The Disney Adventure will stand out as the first and only Global Class ship within the Disney fleet, boasting a capacity of approximately 6,000 guests and featuring innovative methanol propulsion technology. After repositioning to Asia, the ship is expected to launch its cruise program from Singapore's Marina Bay.
