Disney Cruise Line Reveals New Class of Ships

Disney Cruise Line has given fans a first look at a brand-new class of cruise ships that will begin joining the fleet in 2029.

The cruise line revealed the upcoming ships during the D23 fan event, confirming that three vessels have been ordered from German shipbuilder Meyer Werft. The ships are scheduled for delivery in spring 2029, fall 2029, and fall 2030.

At 100,000 gross tons and carrying up to 3,000 guests, the new ships will be smaller than Disney's newest Wish Class vessels but larger than the line's original ships, Disney Magic and Disney Wonder.

The smaller size could give Disney more flexibility when it comes to choosing destinations. While today's mega ships are limited to certain ports, these new vessels could visit a wider range of locations around the world.

The first artwork released by Disney is already generating excitement among cruise fans. The ships keep Disney's classic look with a black hull, white upper decks, and the iconic red funnels that have become a signature of the fleet.

One feature that immediately stands out is a large glass section stretching across three decks. Disney has not revealed what will be located behind those windows, but many fans are already speculating that it could be a redesigned Grand Hall or a new public space with impressive ocean views.

The rendering also suggests the ships may feature a promenade deck with a closer connection to the sea, something many cruise enthusiasts have been hoping to see on modern cruise ships.

While construction has not yet started, planning for the new class is believed to be well underway. More details about the ships, including their names, onboard attractions, and maiden voyages, are expected to be announced closer to delivery.

Disney also shared an update on Disney Believe, the fourth Wish Class ship currently under construction at Meyer Werft and scheduled to enter service in 2027.

With new ships arriving almost every year, Disney Cruise Line continues one of the fastest fleet expansion programs.
