Disney Cruise Line has officially taken over its fifth cruise ship Disney Wish. The vessel was handed over to the Meier Verft shipyard to a cruise company during today's ceremony in Germany. Disney Cruise Line President Thomas Mazlum and Meyer Verft CEO Jan Meyer signed official documents transferring ownership of the shipbuilder to Disney.
The delivery marks the last turning point on the path of shipbuilding because it means that the shipyard has finished its work and that the cruise has taken over.
Numerous executives of Meier Verft and Disney Cruise Line gathered to attend the lowering of the Meier Verft flag and the raising of the Disney Cruise Line flag on board.
Disney presented Meyer Werft with a statuette of Cinderella, in memory of the life-size bronze statue that welcomes guests in the atrium of the Great Hall on the ship.
