Disney Destiny Float Up Completed at Meyer Werft as Construction Advances

Submitted by kgnadmin on

The latest addition to the Disney Cruise Line fleet, Disney Destiny, has reached a significant construction milestone at Meyer Werft in Papenburg. The vessel was floated within the shipyard’s covered dock last week, repositioning her for the next phases of outfitting. Disney Cruise Line has confirmed that onboard system testing is set to commence in the coming weeks.

Disney Destiny is the second newbuild from Meyer Werft this year, following the imminent delivery of Asuka III for NYK Cruises. Disney Cruise Line expects to take delivery of the vessel in fall 2025. As the third ship in the Wish class, Disney Destiny embraces the theme of "Heroes and Villains" and is slated to embark on her maiden voyage from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on November 14, 2025. During her inaugural winter season, she will operate four- and five-night itineraries to the Caribbean.

Nearly a year after her keel was laid on March 20, 2024, Disney Destiny is now progressing into the final stages of construction. With her exterior structure largely complete, the focus has shifted to interior fit-out. Guest staterooms are being installed as prefabricated units, while public spaces and other areas are being built directly onboard.

This summer, Disney Destiny is expected to depart Meyer Werft’s construction hall and spend several weeks at the shipyard’s outfitting pier before making the journey down the Ems River to the North Sea. There, she will undergo extensive sea trials ahead of her official delivery to Disney Cruise Line.
