The latest addition to the Disney cruise family, the Disney Treasure, just rolled out of the construction dock at Papenburg Meyer Werft, and it's making waves in a big way! This massive 341-meter-long, 37-meter-wide beauty is getting its final touches at the shipyard pier before heading out to sea. The cruise ship is expected to sail to the North Sea on September 21st for testing before the delivery by the end of the year.
With a whopping 1,250 cabins on board, this ship can host up to 3,500 passengers ready to embark on the adventure of a lifetime. The "Disney Treasure" is the second in a line of four new builds. Remember the "Disney Wish"? It set sail in 2022. Next up, the "Disney Destiny," which is set to join the lineup in 2025.
Word got out fast after Meyer Werft announced the upcoming launch—social media went wild, and hundreds flocked to Papenburg to witness the spectacle. The cruise company even brought in some VIP guests including Bernhard Meyer.
As the "Disney Treasure" left the dock, it got the royal treatment with a fireworks show, before being moved to the shipyard's outfitting pier. The ship's going through some initial tests and finishing touches at the shipyard over the next few weeks. According to the Lower Saxony State Office for Water Management, Coastal Protection, and Nature Conservation, it's all systems go for the Ems River transfer to the North Sea on September 21. Before that, though, catch the "Disney Treasure" at the Papenburg music festival on September 6 and 7.
After delivery, this beauty is crossing the Atlantic without passengers and will kick off its maiden voyage on December 21 from Port Canaveral, Florida. Look out for those seven-day trips in the Caribbean—hello, paradise!
Meyer Werft is working on more new builds up to 2028, including two cruise ships for Carnival Corporation, one for Disney China, one for NYK Cruises, plus a research vessel and four converter platforms.
