The new Disney Cruise Line ship Disney Wish, is expected to be undocked at Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany this week, reports Schiffe-und-kreuzfahrten. The construction is well underway for Disney Wish, the first of three Triton-class cruise ships commissioned by Disney.
Undocking schedule depends on various factors but the main one is the weather condition, so there might be delays. The undoing date is not official since the shipyard is releasing limited announcements in order to avoid large crowds gathering around the shipyard during the events such as this one.
The Ems overpass is planned for late March, and by then, the new ship will be finally completed, tested and approved by the cruise company. This was not announced either but is made clear by the announcement of the Lower Saxony State Office for Water Management, Coastal Protection and Nature Conservation. According to the information, the Ems barrier near Gandersum will close on March 28th, 2022, and the reason behind this is ship transfer.
Disney Wish will be the 54th cruise ship built at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany. The new building, measures at approximately 144.000 GT, 341 m / 1119 ft long and 41 m / 135 ft wide, offers space for more than 3.466 passengers. Disney Wish is one of three ships ordered from the Meyer Werft shipyard group and it will be the first vessel in the Disney fleet to be operated 100 percent on eco-friendly LNG drive system. Further details on the new ships are yet to be released, but we do know the cartoon character Rapunzel will add a touch of magic to the luxury liner’s hull. The two other ships in the Triton Class will be delivered by MEYER WERFT in 2024 and 2025.
After DCL takes over the ship, Disney Wish will make her way to Port Canaveral, Florida to sail a series of 3 and 4-night cruises to the Bahamas starting June 14, 2022, with stops at Nassau and Castaway Cay.
