Submitted by kgnadmin on

Disney Wish, Disney Cruise Line’s brand-new ship under construction at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany has left the shipyard this morning and is heading off for technical and nautical sea trials in the North Sea.

The 341-meter long colossus has started its 10-plus-hour river conveyance across the Ems River towards Emden at around 8 a.m local time. The maneuver began with the passage of the Papenburg dock lock, the shipyard announced. If everything goes according to plan, Disney Wish will pass the Friesen Bridge near Weener around noon. During the night, the ship should arrive at the Ems barrage near Gandersum. The cruise ship will then head for Eemshaven in the Netherlands, where it will be fully equipped. According to the shipyard, around 750 people are on board.

The 32-kilometer conveyance of cruise ships across the Ems River usually attracts thousands of onlookers. However, due to health and safety reasons and to avoid crowds on the dikes, the shipyard didn’t previously announce when the conveyance of Disney Wish will take place.
