Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines is turning World Cocktail Day into a friendly fleet-wide competition, giving crew members the chance to showcase their creativity behind the bar.
The cruise line revealed the first entries in its onboard cocktail challenge from the crew aboard the Bolette, where bartenders created signature cocktails and mocktails specially designed for the celebration.
The initiative invites ships across the fleet to compete to sell the most cocktails and mocktails of their own creation. Beyond mixing drinks, crew also produced promotional videos to present the inspiration behind their creations and connect with guests in a more personal way.
Among the featured drinks from Bolette was “The Tropical Jewel,” created by Bar Manager Ruwin. The colorful cocktail combines Midori, Malibu, pineapple juice, mango juice, lemon juice, sugar syrup, Chambord, and Bacardi Carta Blanca, bringing together tropical flavors inspired by warm-weather destinations visited during cruises.
Another entry, “The Timeless Journey,” was created by barkeeper Christina as a non-alcoholic option. The mocktail blends fresh banana, strawberries, passion fruit juice, and sugar syrup into a fruity drink designed for guests looking for a refreshing alternative without alcohol.
The company said additional creations from sister ships Borealis and Balmoral will also be revealed as the competition continues.
For cruise ship crew members, onboard competitions like these offer more than entertainment. They provide opportunities for bartenders and hospitality staff to showcase their talents, interact with guests in creative ways, and bring extra energy to life at sea.
