This week, Royal Caribbean’s Adventure of the Seas was welcomed to Galveston for the first time, where it is starting the series of cruises to the Western Caribbean. The vessel will join Liberty of the Seas, which has Galveston as a homeport, too.
In the period between July and the end of September 2021, Galveston has seen more than 168,000 visitors cruising out of the port.
The itinerary of Adventure of the Seas includes a series of 4- and 5-day cruises to the Western Caribbean for the following winter season. The schedule abounds with warm places and sandy beaches, including Cozumel and Costa Maya in Mexico, two popular ports in Mexico. Galveston is a very popular homeport lately, so the largest ship comes as a huge boost to its popularity.
“We welcome Adventure of the Seas to her new home, the fourth most popular cruise port in the U.S. and only cruise port in Texas,” said Rodger Rees, Galveston port director, and CEO. “Giving cruise passengers additional sailing options is one of the reasons why our port continues to draw more than a million passengers a year from Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and beyond.”
Cozumel is the only port of call in the four-day cruises, with a day at sea on either end to allow guests to enjoy everything the Voyager-class ship has to offer, and the five-day cruises offer two ports of call in Cozumel and Costa Maya.
Royal Caribbean is steadily increasing its capacity onboard its ships, with Adventure of the Seas expected to reach 3,100 guests per voyage on its Galveston-based itineraries.
With two ships now operating from Galveston, the relationship between Royal Caribbean International and Galveston Wharves is being strengthened, with even more ships on the way.
