Godmother named for Windstar Cruises Star Seeker

Windstar Cruises has revealed that Libby Anschutz, daughter of company owner Phil Anschutz, will serve as godmother for the line’s newest yacht, Star Seeker. Her sister, Sarah Anschutz, has been selected as godmother for the sister ship Star Explorer, set to debut in 2026. Both vessels are part of the broader Xanterra Travel Collection, the Anschutz-owned portfolio that includes Windstar.

The christening ceremony for Star Seeker is scheduled for January 15, 2026, in Miami, where Windstar will formally welcome the first of its new-build yachts.

In November, Libby Anschutz joined Windstar President Christopher Prelog for a tour of the WestSea Viana shipyard in Portugal, where Star Seeker is nearing completion. The vessel successfully completed sea trials in October, marking a major milestone in its construction.

Anschutz described the experience as “unforgettable,” noting that the ship’s design, warmth, and attention to detail felt “distinctly Windstar.”

Prelog praised the depth of the family’s involvement, calling it “an extraordinary honor and a deeply personal milestone.” He added, “Libby's role as godmother brings heart, creativity, and a genuine connection to what we do. Her blessing of our newest yacht makes this new chapter even more meaningful.”

After the Miami christening, Star Seeker will embark on a seven-night inaugural voyage to San Juan, featuring calls in:

  • Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic

  • Samaná, Dominican Republic

  • Jost Van Dyke, BVI

  • Virgin Gorda, BVI

  • Soper’s Hole (Tortola), BVI

The debut of Star Seeker marks the beginning of a major expansion period for Windstar, introducing a new generation of small-ship luxury to its fleet.
