Intruder Alarm On Board Norwegian Sky

During a routine boarding on Norwegian Sky in Port of Miami, a passenger embarked the cruise ship without scanning his ID card at the entrance.

Immediately the ship's officers activated the internal alarm for suspicious activity on board and notified Miami-Dade, the FBI, Homeland Security and US Customs and Border Protection officers. In an abundance of caution, the ship underwent a further security check, in collaboration with the officers MDPD and CBP; guests were asked to go disembark Norwegian Sky during this check. Once the ship has been declared safe, all guests once again embarked on the ship.

"At about 12:30 a person who had previously passed the security checkpoint at the pier, climbed aboard Norwegian Sky without scan of his card key.

We apologize for any inconvenience this delay may have caused and we thank our guests for their understanding and cooperation. "

Investigators of the Miami-Dade Police , the FBI ,  Homeland Security and those of the US Customs and Border Protection , concluded the operations at around 8 pm.

At a time officials boarded the cruise ship there were about 700 passengers, as they waited to board other 1500 guests waited 7 hours before receiving the go boarding.

Some have complained about the company's lack of communication and explanations, but it is true that in these cases, given the times, caution is never enough.

Faced with complaints from some passengers about the lack of information during the audit, a spokesman for the Miami-Dade Police, Daniel Ferrin, pointed out that unfortunately in these times, communication is hyper-fast, moving at the speed of the light. All passengers have tweeted or sent immediately or a post on Facebook, advising all that noticed.
