Island Princess rescues boat with Syrian refugees in the Ionian Sea

 The cruise ship Island Princess operated by Princess Cruises , during her route from Greece to Turkey received an emergency call from local Greek rescue authorities (RCC).

The coordination center has asked the cruise ship, which was carrying 2,197 passengers, if he could help a small boat about 25 meters long sailing nearby.

Island Princess was directed immediately to the rescue of the ship, which was carrying 117 Syrian and apparently had no difficulty staying afloat. The RCC asked Island Princess to stay close to the boat until a ship arrived from the Greek navy.

However, the small boat began to have difficulty staying afloat because of strong wind around 01:45 am.

Island Princess crew members immediately launched rescue boats and life jackets. Thus, they have been able to rescue the 117 people who were in danger.
