TUI Cruises canceled the current voyage on the cruise ship Mein Schiff 1, a 4-night roundtrip voyage to Oslo from Bremerhaven. The cruise line said that due to a technical issue with the ship’s stabilizers, the cruise is canceled so repairs could be made to the vessel. According to TUI Cruises' statement, the technical problems had already occurred briefly during the previous voyage. At this moment it’s not clear how long repairs will take and if further sailings will be affected.
TUI Cruises released the following statement for the cancelation:
“We confirm that Mein Schiff 1 cannot sail from Bremerhaven as scheduled due to a technical problem. On the last trip, there were brief technical problems with one of the two stabilizers. The safety of the guests and the crew was never endangered. An examination of the stabilizers with the help of divers has shown that short-term repair work is necessary before safe travel is possible.
Mein Schiff 1's stabilizers are located on the side of the ship below the waterline. For this reason, the necessary work cannot be carried out during ongoing guest operations. Therefore, with a heavy heart, we have to cancel the cruise "Short trip with Oslo", which starts today and would have ended on Sunday, February 27th, 2022 in Bremerhaven. In order to enable all guests to have a relaxed journey home, they can stay on board for the first night free of charge. Guests who would also like to take a break on board Mein Schiff 1 in Bremerhaven can use all on-board facilities at a special price up to the end of the regular voyage on Sunday.
If we have to cancel further trips, we will inform our guests promptly.”
