Silvio Gentile, Carnival Cruise Line Director of Scheduling and Compliance, has passed away from a heart attack ten days ago in Miami, Florida. With the sudden death of Silvio Gentile, Carnival lost a great professional and a visionary, but most of all an exceptional human who has impacted the lives of many onboard Carnival cruise ships.
From Naples, Italy, Gentile started as a Deck Officer at Carnival Cruise Line in 2002 and eventually rising to the rank of Safety Officer. He worked under many Captains who valued his dedication and thoughtfulness, as well as his sense of humor and his easy way of making everyone feel happy. He moved shore side in April 2012 as Shipboard HR Manager and was promoted to his most recent position of Director, Scheduling and Compliance for Marine and Hotel in January 2018. In this position, he demonstrated the qualities of a great leader and was well respected by all who knew him. During this time he provided unique support and help to many people both shipboard and shore side.
Silvio's friends created a fund at Go Fund Me to help his family to cover any immediate costs and unforeseen future expenses in providing for his child. Please consider donating for Silvio's family and help get the word out by sharing the Go Fund Me link: www.gofundme.com/f/7zb5x-silvio-gentile-memorial-fund
Our thoughts are now with his wife Nazia Gentile, their 11-year-old daughter Gioia and all of his family and Carnival team members at this difficult time.
We will never forget Silvio Gentile who will be dearly missed, and remain in the hearts and thoughts of all of us.
