MSC Cruises may invest 200 million dollars on a small island in the Bahamas, within the company strategy to strengthen its presence in the Caribbean.
Rumors that MSC Cruises is negotiating the purchase of its own pier in the Bahamas are becoming stronger. The island in focus is the Ocean Cay, where the company would invest in building a dedicated terminal. MSC will deploy two cruise ships in the 2017/18 season sailing from Miami as a homeport.
An exclusive island would add a special destination to the MSC itineraries, thus enhancing thier strategy in the Caribbean and North America.
Some maritime news sources indicate that MSC plans for owning island in the Bahamas, will be formalized before the end of this year.
