The MSC World America embarked on its first sea trials on Thursday, December 12, just before 2 p.m. The ship left the Chantiers de l'Atlantique C-class dock for a two-day testing period, with several hundred people on board to oversee the ship’s performance. Among the team are representatives from Chantiers de l'Atlantique, MSC Croisières, and the Bureau Veritas certification body, as well as co-developers continuing the final stages of outfitting.
During the sea trials, the vessel will undergo rigorous testing, including complex maneuvers to assess its capabilities. The ship’s first captain, Dino Sagani, who joined the MSC World America in November 2024, will be overseeing these crucial operations.
Set to be delivered in spring 2025, the MSC World America will depart Saint-Nazaire in April for its inaugural Caribbean season, sailing from Miami. The ship is part of MSC's expanding fleet, with two additional ships of the same class ordered in November 2023, and a third, the MSC World Asia, already under construction for a 2026 debut.
MSC Cruises has also announced the naming ceremony for the MSC World America in Miami on April 9, 2025.
