New Premium Cruise Line Launched in Asia Named Dream Cruises

Hong Kong based company Genting unveiled their plans to claim Asia’s premium cruise market with a new five star cruise line named Dream Cruises. The new company placed order for two ship from the German shipbuilding yard Meyer Werft. Originally named World Genting the first ship will be renamed Genting Dream scheduled to set sail in November 2016. Genting Dream will have capacity of 3,400 guests and 2,000 crewmembers, with largest guest space ratio and highest crew-to-guest ratio at 1.7. The German-built cruise ship will be the most spacious cruise ship in Asia Pacific market.

This impressive 335 meters long, 39.7 meters wide vessel will incorporate 1682 staterooms and suites, 71% of which are with balcony. Specially designed for the Asian market, the Genting Dream will offer 35 bars and restaurants and many entertainment activities and shows. There will be 1,000-seat Theater, bowling alley, 1100 m² of shops, a large casino and spa. The ship will also be equipped with a VIP resort with 142 suites, private areas and luxury amenities. Capable of reaching the speed of 24 knots, it will be manned by 2030 crew members. The target clientele are Asian tourists, however Genting HK also hopes to attract international cruise passengers, including Americans and Europeans. 

The second Dream Cruises ship will be delivered in October 2017. The price of each ship is announced to nearly $700 million.
