The two ocean-going ships WORLD VOYAGER and VASCO DA GAMA will sail only with vaccinated or recovered passengers from Covid-19, beginning at the end of October. On the river, the 2G rule will apply from November 29th. The German cruise specialist is extending the hygiene and safety measures onboard the Nicko cruise ships, ensuring maximum safety in current times - on the way and when planning your vacation.
The 2G rule on the ocean-going ship VASCO DA GAMA, this regulation applies from October 27, 2021, and for ocean-going trips with the expedition ship WORLD VOYAGER, the obligation to provide evidence applies from October 29, November 2021.
"We decided to take this step in order to be prepared for possible requirements in the destination countries, to be able to offer the best possible protection on board and to give our guests planning security through this regulation", says Guido Laukamp, Managing Director of Nicko cruises. “In a recent customer survey, we found that a large majority of our guests want 2G as a security factor. The 2G regulation also increases planning security for the operational process, ”Laukamp continues.
2G rule for high seas and rivers
Guests over 12 years of age must provide full vaccination against Covid-19 (at least 14 days must have passed since the last required vaccination with an EU-approved vaccine) or full recovery, prepared in digitally readable form for international voyages, with an obligatory QR code that proves it.
Children under the age of 12 are not obligated with the 2G regulation. A negative PCR test is mandatory, which must not be older than 72 hours at the embarkation.
Free rapid tests
Nicko cruises is now testing all guests free of charge with a SARS-Cov-2 antigen rapid test upon embarkation. On the river trips, all guests for the departures up to and including 11.10. asked to bring a negative rapid antigen test that is not older than 24 hours. From October 12th as the free citizen tests are no longer required, Nicko cruises is organizing a rapid antigen test for all guests boarding - very conveniently and free of charge. The quick tests are compulsory for all guests.
In addition, the tried-and-tested hygiene concept, which the Stuttgart cruise expert has clearly laid out in a 10-point plan and which is summarized in a descriptive video, will of course continue to be used on all trips with Nicko cruises. Overall, Nicko cruises consistently adheres to the currently applicable national and international regulations.
The Stuttgart cruise expert is offering flexibility for bookings in the 2022 season. Customers will then continue to have the option of booking with nicko cruises at the flexible rate in the coming year and getting a one-time free of charge for a small surcharge to secure the right to rebook.
