Norovirus on MS Veendam

Holland America Line cruise ship MS Veendam is scheduled to arrive today in his homeport San Diego California with 67 people ill with norovirus symptoms of vomiting, and diarrhea. The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) reports that 57 passengers out of 1,429 (3.99%) and 10 crew members out of 588 (1.70%) have been reported with Gastrointestinal symptoms and quarantined in their cabins. During the voyage ms Veendam crew implemented deep cleaning and disinfection procedures in order to prevent further spread of the virus.

US Public Health Officers are scheduled to board MS Veendam in San Diego today in order to conduct environmental assessment and evaluate the outbreak.

HAL MS Veendam departed on 20 December 2015 from San Diego on a seven Night cruise to the Mexican ports Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlan, and Puerto Vallarta.
