Today, October 24, Oasis of the Seas kicks off a 14-day transatlantic cruise from Barcelona. After spending the summer doing week-long trips around the western Mediterranean and a visit to the Navantia shipyard in Cadiz, the ship is heading to the Caribbean.

Since the end of September, Oasis of the Seas has been in dry dock for some routine maintenance and touch-ups. On Monday, October 21, 2024, it left the repair yard in Andalusia, all set and ready to sail again. 
Now, Oasis of the Seas is sailing for Fort Lauderdale in the U.S. on a two-week transatlantic trip. Once it gets there, the ship will be sailing on Caribbean cruises for the next few years. In about five years, the ship will likely head back to the shipyard for another check-up—probably in Europe since North American shipyards aren’t equipped for ships this size.

Every summer, Royal Caribbean sends one of its massive Oasis Class ships to the Mediterranean. While Oasis of the Seas took the spotlight in Europe this year, its younger sister ship, Allure of the Seas, will be taking over the western Mediterranean next year. In spring 2025, Allure is set to get some cool new updates as part of Royal Caribbean’s Amplification program.
