Fort Zoutman Historical Museum
Build in 1796 for coastline protection Fort Zoutman is the oldest remaining building in Oranjestad. Inside there is the Historical Museum of Aruba. This museum conserves the historical heritage of Aruba from the Spanish invasion around 1515 to colonialism. Every Tuesday evening the Bonbini festival takes place in Fort Zoutman with folkloristic music performances, dance performances and of course a lot of food. Souvenirs are also sold. The Willem III tower was later built against Fort Zoutman. On the anniversary of the namesake, February 19, in the year 1869, the building as a lighthouse and as a city clock (every hour a battle) is put into use.
Pure Culture in San Nicolas
An Aruba of a different kind is waiting in the former capital San Nicolas at the southern tip of the island. As a result of the annual street art event "Aruba Art Fair", the facades of the city are a single, huge graffiti work of art. The buildings feature galleries and original boutiques selling exclusive pieces by local designers. Ideal for a refreshing drink in between is Aruba's oldest bar "Charlie's Bar". (Red).
