Princess Cruises Announces Restructuring and New Incentive Programs for Rooms Division Crew

Princess Cruises is planning significant changes coming to the Rooms Division department across the fleet, bringing new roles, and performance-based incentives aimed at rewarding top-performing crew members. In a letter sent to the crew, Princess Cruises said these changes are intended to support crew growth, and build stronger teams across the fleet. While the rollout extends into 2026, the company reassured crew that guidance and support will be provided throughout the transition.

New Roles Introduced to Strengthen Leadership and Growth

Princess Cruises will add several new positions designed to improve daily operations and create upward mobility for crew:

  • Senior Assistant Rooms Division Manager – Sphere Class
A brand-new role for Sphere Class vessels, offering a clear stepping stone toward future leadership. Applications are now open, with implementation planned for early 2026.

  • Assistant Laundry Master – Sphere & Royal Class
This new promotion path will help laundry team members progress toward Laundry Master roles. Recruitment is underway and positions are expected to open in the first half of 2026.

Complement & Manning Adjustments Across the Fleet

Several ships will see adjustments to support smoother operations and more consistent service:

  • Coral Princess will receive one additional Rooms Division Supervisor, helping align supervision levels with the rest of the fleet.

  • Laundry manning will be reduced by one position fleetwide, except on Island and Coral Princess. The company emphasized that no contracts will be shortened during this transition.

Princess also outlined role adjustments to streamline responsibilities and improve service consistency:

  • Junior Stateroom Stewards
The number of junior positions will be reduced, and linen valet duties will be removed so they can focus exclusively on officers’ and fleet cabins.

  • Rooms Division Attendants
Additional positions will be added, and linen valet responsibilities will now be part of their regular duties.

  • Stateroom Stewards
More promotion opportunities will be offered for high performers.

The company plans to complete these adjustments fleetwide by the end of Q2 2026.

New Incentive Programs: Performance Matters More Than Ever

Princess Cruises is introducing a new way to recognize excellence among Stateroom Stewards, linking incentives directly to guest feedback scores.

Performance-Based Monthly Incentive

Stateroom Stewards ranking in the top 12% for:

  • “Stateroom Steward Service” and

  • “Stateroom Cleanliness” (OBE NPS scores)

will receive a monthly performance bonus.

New Points System for Suite & Sanctuary Assignments

Assignments to the highest-paying sections—Suites and Sanctuary Collection—will now be determined by a weighted NPS-based point system. Crew with the strongest service and cleanliness scores will receive priority for these desirable sections. A new dashboard will allow continuous tracking to ensure fairness and transparency.

The incentive and points programs will be piloted on Star Princess and Sky Princess, followed by a gradual fleetwide rollout starting in March.
