Royal Caribbean cancels Baltic cruises for 2023

Submitted by kgnadmin on

Royal Caribbean International is canceling the European season of the Serenade of the Seas in summer 2023.

The ship was scheduled to depart from Stockholm and Copenhagen on cruises through the Baltic Sea. The cancellation follows other cruise lines such as Princess Cruises and Celebrity Cruises, which are using fewer ships in Northern Europe next year.

The reason given by the cruise line is the poor security situation in Eastern Europe as a result of the Russian attack on Ukraine. Therefore, Saint Petersburg, one of the highlight ports in the Baltic Sea, was removed from the itinerary. It was decided to use the ship from Florida on trips to the Caribbean. A new homeport for the summer of 2023 has not yet been named. In the winter of 2022/2023, the ship will be stationed in Tampa, Florida.

Royal Caribbean has already informed the affected guests and travel agents about the changes in route planning. The guests of the transatlantic crossings and the Baltic Sea trips can now choose between a rebooking or a refund of the travel expenses. The transatlantic voyages can be rebooked on the Explorer of the Seas (Miami-Civitavecchia) or on the Jewel of the Seas (Port Canaveral-Amsterdam) in the same period.

Those who prefer to travel on a larger ship can also travel to Europe from the USA next spring with the Odyssey of the Seas or the Anthem of the Seas. The cruises from May to September within Europe can also be rebooked on other ships in the Royal Caribbean fleet. Any guest who does not wish to embark on a voyage on Royal Caribbean ships in the next year can have their entire travel expenses reimbursed.

The Russian attack on Ukraine has led to reduced demand for cruises in Europe by American cruise brands, which is why routes are being rescheduled. This summer season Royal Caribbean has pulled Voyager of the Seas from Europe, next year it will be Serenade of the Seas.
