Royal Caribbean Lifeguards have had a busy start to the year. This year, they have assisted over 160 guests in pools on board across the fleet. However, it is not always at the pools that lifeguards jump into action.
Last month teams on Mariner and Odyssey providing lifesaving cardiac pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) to guests around the open deck. The team on board Navigator of the Seas help support a guest that suffered with a seizure. With their swift actions, and with other crew members support, they successfully responded and provided treatment to the guests until medical teams arrive on the scene.
Since 2017 Royal Caribbean have partnered with the Aquatics Safety Company, Starguard Elite (SGE), to license its lifeguards and train them to undertake emergency tasks as well as to ensure that they can provide a safe and enjoyable environment.
This year Starguard Elite hosted its annual Conference for Aquatics Professionals aboard the Independence of the Seas. At the conference, RCI Lifeguards were awarded 5 STAR standard for safety, the only cruise line to be awarded the highest standard possible.
Royal Caribbean is proud of its lifeguard teams, for their continued commitment to the safety of all guests on board.
