A passenger aboard Holland America Line cruise ship ms Westerdam was medically evacuated for emergency treatment on December 11 after suffering a serious fall.

A passenger aboard Celebrity Apex was airlifted off the vessel after falling seriously ill while the cruise ship was sailing to Port Canaveral.

The medical emergency happened about 24 nautical miles north of Arecibo, Puerto Rico. According to officials, the 65-year-old man was dealing with several medical issues that required treatment at a hospital on land. At the time, Celebrity Apex was traveling from St. Kitts to Florida.

Norwegian Cruise Line is kicking off 2026 with a fresh face at the top. The company has officially named Marc Kazlauskas as its new President, taking over the helm on January 19, 2026.

Costa Cruises has taken a major step in its ongoing commitment to sustainability by expanding the use of electric trucks in port logistics operations. In partnership with LC3 Trasporti the cruise line has launched a trial program using electric heavy-duty vehicles at the ports of Genoa and Savona for its cruise ships

The initiative began with an pilot battery electric vehicles (BEVs) capable of transporting more than 40 tons of cargo. These trucks were deployed to supply Costa's ships directly at dockside, marking a shift towards zero-emission logistics in maritime operations.

Fincantieri celebrated a big moment at the Marghera shipyard with the launch of Seven Seas Prestige, built for Regent Seven Seas Cruises. This is the first ship in a brand-new class, with delivery planned for 2026, and a sister ship coming in 2030.

Windstar Cruises has revealed that Libby Anschutz, daughter of company owner Phil Anschutz, will serve as godmother for the line’s newest yacht, Star Seeker. Her sister, Sarah Anschutz, has been selected as godmother for the sister ship Star Explorer, set to debut in 2026. Princess Cruises is planning significant changes coming to the Rooms Division department across the fleet, bringing new roles, and performance-based incentives aimed at rewarding top-performing crew members. In a letter sent to the crew, Princess Cruises said these changes are intended to support crew growth, and build stronger teams across the fleet. While the rollout extends into 2026, the company reassured crew that guidance and support will be provided throughout the transition.
