Splendour of the Seas catches fire – 19 Crew treated for smoke inhalation

Royal Caribbean Splendour of the Seas experienced a fire this morning in one of its engine rooms while the ship was sailing to the Greek port of Argostoli. Royal Caribbean released this information on their twitter account with regular updates. Crew immediate response helped to contain the fire after two hours. Previous statement said that Splendour of the Seas will continue its scheduled route. However due to engine problems the ship will return to the homeport Venice – Italy. All systems are functional 1 guest, and 19 crew  members are treated for smoke inhalation and released. One crew member is still being treated. Splendour of the Seas departed Venice on October 17 sailing on a on a seven-night voyage.
