Swan Hellenic cancels Minerva Antarctica cruise

Submitted by kgnadmin on

Due to vessel permits, Swan Hellenic has canceled its 31-night Antarctic cruise aboard the SH Minerva.

Following negotiations that have been ongoing since September 2022, Swan Hellenic will take ownership of SHMiner's purchase of the GTLK subsidiary that currently owns the vessel. According to Svan Hellenic, a "legal mechanism" has been identified with the help of its Irish lawyers that would allow it to take ownership.

The application for the purchase was completed and submitted to the Central Bank of Ireland within a few weeks. Approval is expected to take 2-3 weeks.

Until this permit is issued, Swan Hellenic has announced that it will delay the reactivation of the SH Minerva, which will force the cancellation of its 31-night Antarctic cruise scheduled to depart on February 7, 2023.

Swan Hellenic was relaunched in July 2020 following the collapse of the parent company All Leisure Holidays in the UK. Its current fleet includes SH Minerva and SHI Vega, two new five-star Polar Code PC 5 expedition ships launching in December 2021 and July 2022, as well as the slightly larger SH Diana, an ice-class PC 6 ship in early 2023.
