Tom McAlpin retires as Virgin Voyages CEO

Virgin Voyages announced the appointment of new Chief Executive Officer Nirmal Saverimuttu, following the retirement of the founding CEO Tom McAlpin, who will transition to the role of Chairman of the Board of Directors, continuing his support for the brand at executive level.

Under Tom McAlpin's visionary leadership, Virgin Voyages has achieved remarkable success, earning numerous industry awards and garnering a plethora of five-star reviews, all stemming from a passionate commitment to the brand's unique culture.

Nirmal Saverimuttu, who has served as President and Chief Experience Officer of Virgin Voyages, brings with him a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of the company's ethos. His appointment as CEO comes at a pivotal moment for Virgin Voyages as the company embarks on an ambitious expansion plan.

The news was released following the announcement of a substantial capital raise of $550 million, aimed at bolstering the company's growth initiatives. The capital infusion is being led by funds managed by Ares Management's Private Equity Group, demonstrating a strong vote of confidence in Virgin Voyages' potential to thrive in the cruise industry.
