Viking Ocean Cruises Orders Two Cruise Ships

All Viking Cruises vessels will have capacity of 930 passengers and a gross tonnage of 48,000 tons.

The Viking Cruises signed an agreement with Italian shipyard Fincantieri for the acquisition of two Star-class cruise ships. The vessels will be delivered in 2018 and 2020. The first cruise ship Viking Cruises, the Viking Star, began sailing in spring 2015 in the Mediterranean. The company has order of two more ships already under construction, the Viking Sea and the Viking Sky, the first of which is scheduled for completion in the spring of 2016 and the second early in 2017.

All Viking Cruises vessels will have capacity of 930 passengers and a gross tonnage of 48,000 tons. Besides these new features, the CEO and company chairman Torstein Hagen, said in statements earlier this year, company goal is to have 10 ocean cruise ships and 100 river cruise ships.

The Viking Star debuted earlier this year and was recently named "Best New Cruise Ship in 2015". The main and unique features of the ship include a "infinity" pool, all cabins with private balcony, access to free wi-fi, a special suite with snow room.
