Viking Sun Float Out Celebrated in Italy

Today Viking Ocean Cruises celebrated the float out of their latest cruise ship Viking Sun, at the Fincantieri shipyard in Ancona. Viking Sun is the fourth Star class cruise ship in a series of six vessels that the company Viking Ocean Cruises ordered from the Italian shipbuilder. After undergoing the stage of internal preparation the ship will debut in fall 2017.

The traditional float out ceremony was attended by Lou Yi, vice president of China Merchant Bank Financial Leasing. Followed by the traditional "coin ceremony" that involves welding of a silver dollar on the last deck of the ship, according to an ancient seafaring costume.

Viking Star Class ships were designed by highly experienced naval architects and engineers, including an interior design team of SMC Design in London, and the Rottet studio in Los Angeles. Viking Sun will be built according to the latest regulations on navigation and equipped with the state of the art safety systems, including the "safe return to port". The vessel will be equipped with the most advanced technologies to reduce environmental impact and energy saving.
