Sir Richard Branson’s Virgin Voyages has unveiled the name of its second cruise ship, Valiant Lady which will debut in May 2021. The name is inspired by the Latin word “Valere” which means "bravery", "strength" and "courage."
Scarlet Lady twin ship, Valiant Lady, will continue with the Virgin Voyages “Scarlet Squad” program dedicated of recruiting, supporting and tutoring the talent of women on board, with promotion opportunities to access decision-making positions in areas such as marine, Hotel technique, and management that statistically show a low number of female leaders.
“We are delighted to reveal the name of our second ship - Valiant Lady - and to fulfill our commitment to offering travelers a radical change in how cruise ships can experience in this part of the world. Our Sailors will fall in love with the places we will go and the moments and memories they can create on our beautiful ship, ”said Tom McAlpin, CEO of Virgin Voyages.
When Valiant Lady goes into service in May 2021, she will initially stay in the Mediterranean. With base port Barcelona. Valiant Lady will dock a few steps from Las Ramblas at the World Trade Center in Barcelona, positioning the Mariners as close as possible to this amazing home port. This premium location, usually reserved for luxury cruises and megayachts, gives walking access to the dynamic and diverse neighborhoods of Poble Sec, El Raval, Barri Gotic, Port Vell and the famous urban beach of La Barceloneta. With weekly departures on Sundays, sailors may have extra time in Barcelona and be able to take advantage of several flight options. Virgin Voyages is working with Global Port Holding, the world's leading cruise port operator, to prepare for the arrival of the Valiant Lady in the summer of 2021.

“We have listened to the requests of the Mariners and First Mates (travel agencies) of stays until later in port, creating our own itinerary for Virgin. This means that Sailors will have the flexibility to make the most of their time in port and enjoy all that those destinations have to offer. As a particular note, all cruises have a Friday night at the port in Ibiza, one of the most amazing and exciting islands of the Balearic Islands. Whether in a happy beach club, a bohemian market, a serene spa, watching the stunning sunsets, or a long night of partying, there is no comparable place that offers the variety and style of this unique destination.”
