Virgin Voyages will restart cruise operation this summer from the UK with Scarlet Lady. One day after Virgin Voyages announced the decision to cancel Miami sailings thought September 17, 2021, the cruise line released an exciting announcement that Scarlet Lady will sail out of Portsmouth, UK starting August 6.
"Virgin Voyages has been looking forward to sailing, and we're so excited to announce our plans to sail from the UK. Our team has curated such a fantastic experience for our Sailors and know this is a holiday they will love," Sir Richard Branson, founder of Virgin Group, said.
UK cruises will include 2-, 3- and 4-night itineraries departing Portsmouth between August 6 and August 27, exclusively for residents of England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. All guests must be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 and must provide proof of vaccination before embarkation.
“Its been a long year, and we've all been itching to get out of the house and out to sea. So this August, Scarlet Lady will sail on a homecoming tour off the English coast on three and four-night voyages giving you the staycation-at-sea you deserve." Virgin announcement reads about the upcoming cruises which will go on sale Tuesday, April 13.
Cruise Critic received a statement from Virgin Voyages President and CEO Tom McAlpin who confirmed UK deployment noting that Scarlet Lady will eventually work its way back to its homeport of Miami, Florida later this year.
"After more than a year of waiting and a major emphasis on a safe return, we're ecstatic to announce these new sailings and bring Sailors what Virgin calls passengers onboard to experience what it's like to set sail the Virgin Way," McAlpin said. "We look at our UK summer voyages as a homecoming to pay homage to our British roots, and what an excellent way to kick-off our sailing season before heading back to PortMiami."
