Alpine unveiled the look of its 2026 Formula 1 A526, during a launch event held onboard the cruise ship MSC World Europa off the Catalan coast near Barcelona, marking what the team is calling the start of a new chapter, including the switch to Mercedes power.
The Enstone-based outfit hosted the reveal at sea to spotlight its partnership with MSC Cruises, staging the event during the ship’s 7-night round-trip Mediterranean voyage. In attendance were Executive Advisor Flavio Briatore, Managing Director Steve Nielsen, Executive Technical Director David Sanchez, and the team’s drivers.
Alpine has been openly “all-in” on 2026, with Formula 1 entering a major new technical era featuring revamped chassis and engine regulations. The team previously ended substantial development work on its 2025 challenger as early as May to focus resources on the A526 project.
Before the official unveiling, Alpine confirmed the A526 had already completed a shakedown at Silverstone.
Speaking at the event, Flavio Briatore described the moment as a reset for the team, pointing to 2026 as a rare opportunity to close the gap under brand-new regulations.
“Today marks the beginning of a new chapter for BWT Alpine Formula One Team,” Briatore said, adding that the new rules “offer a clean sheet of paper and a great opportunity for us to be more competitive than previous campaigns.”
He also highlighted the work happening behind the scenes at Enstone and confirmed the team’s partnership with Mercedes-AMG, which will supply the new power unit and gearbox from this season.
Briatore closed by thanking Alpine’s partners, including title partner BWT, MSC Cruises, and premium partner Eni, for staying committed to the team as it pushes into a new era.
Launching a Formula 1 season onboard one of MSC’s flagship ships wasn’t subtle — and it wasn’t meant to be. Alpine is putting a spotlight on 2026 as its fresh start: new car, new regulations, new power, and a big-stage partnership moment at sea to match the
