Costa Toscana Completes Sea Trials and Marks Coin Ceremony

Costa Toscana has successfully completed sea trials—a series of tests to verify the proper functioning of systems, equipment and LNG (liquefied natural gas) engines. Now, the ship is back at the Meyer shipyard in Turku, Finland, for additional work prior to the vessel's delivery to Costa Cruises in December 2021. Costa Toscana is Costa’s second ship powered by liquefied natural gas, the marine industry’s most advanced fuel technology available for reducing emissions.

Stern releases ranking of the most environmentally friendly and safe cruise ships

The German weekly magazine Stern together with Scope ESG Analysis published a list of the most environmentally friendly and safe cruise ships. The ranking is based 70% on the environmental score and 30% on a safety score, the report said. For the environmental score, it was taken in consideration how much CO2 a cruise ship emits with regard to the climate targets to be achieved. The report shows to what extent the cruise lines miss, achieve or exceed these goals.

Ita and Costa Cruises sign letter of intent for fly & cruise packages

Costa Toscana starts sea trials

Costa Cruise’s latest LNG-powered XL-class ship Costa Toscana, headed out to sea trials on Monday, Finland-based shipbuilder Meyer Turku said. During the sea trials the ship’s operations and equipment will be tested for a little over a week, after returning back to the shipyard, the shipyard added. Assisted by the tugs, the ship left Meyer Turku while the event was witnessed by a large number of people gathered on nearby shores.
