Carnival Cruise Line Cruise Director Todd Evans has announced that he is leaving the company after 16 years. Known to many guests for his high-energy personality and signature catchphrase, Evans shared the news on social media, saying it was time to begin a new chapter in his career.
Evans shared the news with fans on social media, reflecting on the experiences and friendships he built during his years with Carnival.
"16 years. Countless memories. Beautiful friendships that became family. And the incredible privilege of entertaining the world at sea," Evans wrote. "Today, it's officially time to hang up my anchor."
Evans thanked guests, fellow crew members, and Carnival colleagues for their support throughout his career, while hinting that his journey in entertainment is far from over.
"It's simply time for the next chapter and to step up to the next level. Stay tuned... big things are coming!"
Although Evans did not reveal the exact reason behind his departure, he suggested that future projects could include event planning and other entertainment-related ventures.
His final completed assignment was aboard Carnival Freedom, where he served as Cruise Director through March 2026. Evans had also been scheduled to return to Carnival Sunshine beginning October 31, 2026, but that assignment has since been removed from Carnival's schedule. Cruise Director Alex Siegler is now expected to cover part of that contract.
Evans joined Carnival Cruise Line in 2009, initially performing as a Playlist Productions singer before moving into the Cruise Director role. Over the years, he became one of the line's most recognizable personalities, known for his signature introduction, "T-O-Double-D on the M-I-C," high-energy performances, and engaging interaction with guests.
His departure comes during a period of changes within Carnival's Cruise Director team. While the company has not commented publicly on Evans' exit, cruise lines rarely issue statements regarding staffing decisions or the conclusion of employee contracts.
While every departure has its own story, Todd Evans' announcement adds another familiar face to the list of Cruise Directors who helped shape the Carnival guest experience for thousands of passengers over the years.

Evans now joins a growing list of familiar Carnival Cruise Directors who have departed the company in recent years.
Jake Miller left Carnival in 2025 after nine years with the company. He shared an emotional farewell thanking guests, crew, and Carnival for the unforgettable memories. His future plans were not publicly announced at the time.
Gabby Gamboa announced her departure in July 2026 just days before her next scheduled contract. She did not disclose the reason, but hinted on social media that despite giving her "heart and soul," it "was not enough." Her next career move has not yet been revealed.

Matt Mitcham has remained active in the cruise community, will reunite with fellow former Carnival Cruise Directors during the "Legends at Sea" reunion cruise, not on Carnival but on Margaritaville at Sea. Cookie and Schwartz will join Matt on this charter cruise.
