Disney Adventure Cruise Cancelled Due to Mechanical Issues

Passengers on the Disney Adventure had their vacation cut short before it even began after the ship’s scheduled voyage from Singapore was cancelled due to technical issues.

The cruise ship was supposed to depart from the Marina Bay Cruise Centre on May 7 for a four-night cruise. However, after guests boarded the ship, departure was delayed when the captain announced propulsion-related issues.

Passengers remained onboard overnight while the crew and technical teams worked to assess the situation. By the morning of May 8, guests were informed that the cruise had been officially cancelled and all passengers would need to disembark.

According to reports shared by passengers onboard, the captain said the issues may have involved the ship’s azipod propulsion system, although Disney Cruise Line has not publicly confirmed specific technical details.

Guests were offered a full refund for the cancelled cruise, along with a 50 percent future cruise credit, hotel accommodation for the night, and up to $500 compensation for additional expenses, CruiseBeyond SG reported.

Social media posts from passengers described disappointment after waiting hours for the delayed departure before learning the voyage would not continue.

In a message shared online, a representative connected to the ship’s operations apologized to guests and thanked them for their patience and understanding.

The statement said crew members and technical teams were working behind the scenes to resolve the issue as quickly as possible and emphasized the company’s goal of delivering a safe and high-quality cruise experience.

The cancellation marks a difficult start for what was expected to be one of Disney Cruise Line’s major attractions in the Asian cruise market.
