A section of the fourth Virgin Voyages cruise ship was floated at the Fincantieri shipyard in Castellammare di Stabia, Italy. A small ceremony was held at the Castellammare this morning with breaking a bottle of Champagne against the block, which is now sailing to Genoa for final assembly.

In 2018 Fincantieri shipyard announced it has signed a €700 million agreement with Virgin Voyages for the construction of a fourth new-build ship, which will be delivered at the end of 2023.

The fourth VV ship will be approximately 110,000 gross tons, 278mtr long and 38mtr beam. The vessel will feature over 1,400 guest cabins designed to host more than 2,770 guests, accompanied by 1,100 crew members. The new vessel will be a sistership of the three ships Scarlet Lady, Valiant Lady, and Resilient Lady. 

Virgin Voyages fleet includes highly innovative design and craftsmanship. Highlights include highly innovative design solutions, specifically to address energy recovery and the reduction of the overall environmental impact. For example, ships are equipped with an energy production system of approximately 1 MW, which uses the diesel engine’s waste heat. The result is a system that distinguishes Virgin Voyages ships as they aim to create one of the cleanest fleets at sea.
