Everyone likes to set a Guinness world record, cruise lines are not exception when it comes to this due to the fact that it brings lots of publicity and prestige to the company. Here are the Guinness world records set by, or involving the cruise lines:

Guinness World Record for pulling a water-ski rider - AIDAbella

AIDAbella holds the world record for pulling a water-ski rider Jan Schwiderek. The dare devil stunt performed back in fall of 2010 off the Spanish coast in the Bay of Alicante astonished even the AIDA Captain Josef Husmann. “This is something I’ve never seen a captain also. Simply amazing that we have really succeeded,” said Husmann.
The water skier, Jan Schwiderek, and German television cameras of the "Galileo Prosieben" began the first shots. Jan Schwiderek gathered speed with one of the boats and when he finally picked the right speed was hooked after the Aidabella.
AIDAbella pulled him with a speed of 14 knots behind it – and exactly 6 minutes and 25 seconds. No larger cruise ship managed this before.

Measuring 362 m (1,187 ft) long, 66 m (215 ft) wide and weighing 225,282 gross ton’s MS Allure of the Seas was constructed in Turku Finland. It’s first trip was on October 2010.
