NCL Celebrates Delivery of Norwegian Luna

Norwegian Cruise Line has officially welcomed a spectacular new addition to its fleet with the delivery of Norwegian Luna. The handover ceremony took place at Fincantieri’s shipyard in Marghera, Italy where executives from both the shipbuilder and Norwegian Cruise Line gathered to celebrate the completion of the impressive new vessel.

The Norwegian Luna is the second vessel in the enhanced Prima Plus class, following her sister ship Norwegian Aqua, which entered service in 2025.

With a gross tonnage of around 156,000, a length of 321 meters, and capacity for more than 3,550 guests, the ship is roughly 10 percent larger than the original Prima-class vessels Norwegian Prima and Norwegian Viva.

Innovative Attractions and Experiences

Norwegian Luna introduces a wide range of attractions designed to bring excitement and entertainment to guests of all ages. Among the standout features are:

  • Aqua Slidecoaster – NCL’s thrilling hybrid roller coaster and waterslide experience

  • Glow Court – a high-tech digital sports arena featuring an interactive LED floor

  • Luna Midway – an outdoor carnival-style amusement area with classic games

  • Moon Climber – a multi-story adventure and obstacle course for families

Guests will also enjoy Ocean Boulevard, the largest 360-degree outdoor promenade ever built on a Norwegian Cruise Line ship, offering panoramic sea views, open-air lounges, and immersive oceanfront experiences.

Thousands Worked to Bring the Ship to Life

The completion of Norwegian Luna represents the effort of around 3,000 workers, including teams from Fincantieri and partner companies, who spent months bringing the ship to life.

The delivery comes shortly after Fincantieri and Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings announced a major new agreement to build three next-generation cruise ships, including an additional vessel for Norwegian Cruise Line on top of the four ships ordered in February 2025.

These future ships are scheduled to join the fleet between 2030 and 2037, further strengthening the long-standing partnership between the Italian shipbuilder and the cruise company.
