Princess Cruises Restructures Guest Services Roles and Pay

Princess Cruises is introducing a series of changes to its Guest Services teams aimed at improving career growth, pay, and onboard operations, according to an internal communication shared with employees.

The update, sent by Vice President of Hotel Operations and Guest Experience, outlines a restructuring of roles within Guest Services. The company is redefining responsibilities, especially within the Assistant Purser ranks, to create clearer job functions and better career progression.

As part of the changes, new roles are being introduced, including Documentation Manager and Assistant Documentation Manager, focusing on immigration and clearance processes. Existing roles are also being renamed, such as Guest Services Officer and Junior Guest Services Officer, to better reflect responsibilities.

Princess Cruises is also updating compensation for several positions, including leadership roles and senior Assistant Pursers, saying the goal is to better match industry standards and recognize employees’ contributions.

In addition, the company plans to test a new structure for its Inventory team aboard Regal Princess, introducing an Inventory Control Specialist role as part of a pilot program.

A new Hotel General Manager training program is also being launched, focusing on hands-on experience, mentorship, and performance development for future leaders.

The changes took effect May 1, with applications for new roles opening the same day. Princess said the updates are part of a broader effort to strengthen operations and offer clearer career opportunities for shipboard and shoreside staff.
