The cruise ship Carnival Breeze arrived in Southampton this morning as part of a Transatlantic repatriation voyage of Carnival Cruise Line’s European crew due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The cruise ship Costa Mediterranea has set sail today from the port of Brindisi, Italy on a long journey to Asia to repatriate Indonesian and Filipino crew members home. The voyage will take the crew through the Suez Canal and make an anchorage to do bunkering operation. Costa Mediterranea will arrive in Muscat on May 27, for loading of goods, and the same day the ship will set sail to Singapore.
Today, May 15, the crew members onboard the cruise ship Majesty of the Seas took to the open deck and started a protest after receiving the news that their repatriation date was delayed. About 120 Indian crew members disembarked Costa Luminosa on March 24, when they all tested negative before leaving the ship. A team member on Carnival Cruise Line ship reportedly took his own life today during his final voyage before the repatriation back to his home country. The 29-year-old crew member from Hungary was found dead in his cabin on the cruise ship Carnival Breeze. He had been working as a shore excursion assistant manager for Carnival for the past 3 years.

A young crew member went overboard from the cruise ship Jewel of the Seas on April 30, while the vessel was off the coast of Greece. According to the Greek media, a search was underway by the ship and the Coast Guard in an attempt to locate the missing crew member. A lifeboat and two Coast Guard vessels were involved in the search, and a Coast Guard aircraft was deployed in the area. Unfortunately the crew member was not located.
