Oceania Cruises has appointed Master Chefs Alexis Quaretti and Eric Barale as its executive culinary directors, succeeding Jacques Pépin, the legendary chef and founding father of the line's culinary philosophy, The Finest Cuisine at Sea®. Pépin will continue to play a vital role within Oceania Cruises as executive culinary adviser and will maintain his collaborative efforts with the line through the philanthropic work of The Jacques Pépin Foundation, a key partner and supporter since its inception.

Costa Cruises received the "Best Improvement of D&I in the Workplace" award by the Presidency of the Council of the European Union. Carnival Cruise Line has welcomed its latest addition, the Carnival Firenze, following its transformation from the former Costa Firenze. This conversion was carried out at the Navantia shipyard in Cadiz, Spain. Carnival Firenze departed its dry dock in Cadiz, embarking towards its new destination on the west coast of the United States to Long Beach, Los Angeles, with only crew onboard.

Due to a technical issue the Brilliance of the Seas is making an early return to Sydney from its current voyage. During its eleven-day voyage in the South Pacific, which started on March 19, 2024, the ship was only able to make a stop at Lifou Island on March 22. Its visit to Noumea in New Caledonia on March 23 and all subsequent port calls have been canceled. The ship is expected to arrive back in Sydney by late evening tomorrow, with the ongoing cruise anticipated to be officially canceled by Tuesday, March 26, 2024.

Two crew members died in engine room incident on Holland America Line's cruise ship Nieuw Amsterdam during a call at Half Moon Cay in Bahamas. The explosion led to the release of steam, which resulted in the tragic death.
Cruise Law News reported that the deceased crew members were third engineer Joseph Terrado and wiper Wawan Gusnawan. 

The Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore, a critical bridge and major route for cargo and cruise ships, collapsed early Tuesday after being hit by a container ship. This incident, which sent vehicles plummeting into the water below, was declared a mass-casualty event.

Carnival Corporation has signed an agreement with Meyer Werft shipyard to construct a new addition to its Excel-class of ships for the Carnival Cruise Line brand. The new vessel, boasting a gross tonnage of 180,000, is scheduled for delivery in 2028. The new vessel will operate using liquefied natural gas (LNG), marking a significant step towards sustainable cruising. The ship is designed to accommodate over 6,400 guests and 1,800 crew members, underscoring Carnival's strategy for large-scale, high-capacity cruise ships.

Carnival Cruise Line announced that due to ongoing rescue and recovery operations in Baltimore Harbor following the Key Bridge collapse, its operations for Carnival Legend will be temporarily relocated to Norfolk, Virginia.

Royal Caribbean International is introducing a new beach club experience, expanding its destination offerings with the Royal Beach Club Cozumel in Mexico, scheduled to open in 2026. The announcement of this new addition was made on the western coast of Cozumel island by Royal Caribbean Group President and CEO Jason Liberty, alongside Royal Caribbean International President and CEO Michael Bayley, Quintana Roo's Secretary of Tourism, Bernardo Cueto Riestra, and Cozumel's Mayor, Juanita Alonso.
