Costa Cruises to Implement Zero Tolerance Alcohol Policy For Officers

Zero alcohol policy for all no discrimination. This comment on the social media by Costa Cruises Chief Electrical Engineer Roberto Pibiri sparked huge debate between crew and officers. As of August 19th, Costa Cruises will implement zero tolerance alcohol policy for employees working in the engine department, bridge officers, medical and deck department. This means that they are not allowed have alcohol in the crew bar, disco or any bars aboard the ship.

The Brazilian Sivlana Costa is raising her voice on behalf of the crew members rights in a form of petition. She along with other Brazilian cruise ship employees has expressed dissatisfaction with the changes that have taken place in the agreement signed by the Cruise Lines and MPT companies in November 2016. According to her, the law needs to be more flexible, giving the crew power of choice and not just obey by something that was imposed.

Three cruise ship bartenders will compete in Diageo semi-finals

Lazar Milosavljevic from Celebrity Cruises, Claudio Santos Liborio from Seabourn Cruise Line and Marc McArthur from Norwegian Cruise Line will compete in the next round at the Diageo Bar 396 in Miami. This three crew members topped the competition from hundreds of bartenders representing all major cruise lines and only one will go on to Diageo Global Travel at the World Class Bartender of the Year finals which will be in Mexico City from 20-24 August 2017.

Azamara Journey and Quest – Two Sisters Meet in Barcelona

Yesterday was a day of festivities and meeting old friends and colleagues for Azamara Club Cruises. The company’s two sister ships, Azamara Journey and Azamara Quest have met in the Port of Barcelona. Two Captains, Carl Smith and Johannes Tysse, together with the two Hotel Directors - Heike Berdos and Ryszard Gusmann, two Cruise Directors - Tony Markey and Eric De Gray plus many of the crew meet after four years apart.
