Norwegian Cruise Line is closely monitoring the development and the path of the system – referred to as “Tropical Cyclone One” which is forecasted to impact Bermuda on June 6. The cruise line is modifying the itinerary of the Norwegian Pearl and the ship will spend day at sea, instead at Kings Wharf.

The ship’s captain informed guests sailing aboard the Pearl, on the public address system that the Peral will depart Bermuda on June 5, and depending on the weather situation will return on June 7.

“This is very important information pertaining to our port stay in Bermuda. Due to the forecasted track and timing of the potential tropic cyclone one in relation to Bermuda. Norwegian Pearl will not be able to remain alongside in Bermuda for Monday, June 6. We were advised from the corporate office in Miami to depart from Bermuda, tomorrow June 5th, at 6 pm and to spend a day at sea on June 6.

We and our corporate office in Miami will be closely monitoring future weather situation to determine if we are able to return safely to the port on June 7, the morning. Ladies and gentlemen safety and security of the guest crew and ship is our ultimate task. Sorry for the inconvenience and thank you for understanding.

The Norwegian Pearl departed from Boston, Massachusetts on June 3, and the original itinerary included Bermuda stay from June 5 to June 7, before sailing to Bar Harbor, Maine on June 9, and return to Boston on June 10.

A tropical storm watch is in effect for the first storm of the year drifting towards the island, currently about 1,000 miles from Bermuda.

Bermuda Weather Service has put the forecast to be about 127 miles to the north-northwest of the island at noon on Monday, June 6, making it a potential threat to the island.

The US National Hurricane Centre said the storm has maximum sustained winds of 40mph and moves northeast at 18mph.
