Carnival's Adora Cruises brand in China under CSSC Carnival Cruise Shipping announced on Thursday that it will deliver the world's first 5G cruise ship later this year.
In cooperation with China Telecom, the company is building the world's first 5G cruise ship, as well as a large Chinese-made cruise ship.
The cruise ship will be equipped with advanced wireless communication technology, and Wi-Fi6 and a mobile 5G network will be available to give passengers on board the same network experience as on land.
"By taking advantage of the first mover in the 5G cruise market, we hope to set a new standard for digital communication in the cruise industry," said Chen Ranfeng, CEO of CSSC Carnival Cruise Shipping, a joint venture between China's largest company. shipbuilding company China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC) and US-based Carnival Corporation.
Construction of Adora's first cruise ship has been completed and is expected to enter service in 2023. With a gross tonnage of 135,500 tons, the ship has 2,125 guest rooms and can carry 5,246 passengers.
