Mein Schiff 2 starts western Mediterranean cruises from Palma de Mallorca

The cruise ship Mein Schiff 2 departed from her summer homeport Palma de Mallorca today, restarting the popular cruises to the western Mediterranean. Around 900 guests and 750 crew members are on board the first 7-day roundtrip voyage tith Captain Thomas Roth at the helm. The ship will sail two different itineraries with stops in Barcelona and Valencia, the Andalusian ports of Malaga and Cádiz, Alicante on the Costa Blanca and Cartagena in the southeast of the Iberian Peninsula. 

 “Mallorca is an integral part of our summer schedule. The return to Palma is not only a positive sign for our guests and our crew. We are pleased that with the restart we can also make a contribution to the recovery of the Spanish tourism industry and we would like to thank all the responsible authorities and local partners for their support, ”said Wybcke Meier, CEO of TUI Cruises. The safety of the guests, the crew and the Spanish population is a top priority for TUI Cruises. Therefore, the start on Mallorca takes place with the health and hygiene concept, which has been tried and tested for almost a year, which was coordinated in advance with the responsible Spanish authorities.

TUI Cruises is on the right track with the cruises restart. More than 100,000 guests have sailed with the Mein Schiff fleet since July 2020, and the company has restarted cruises on 4 vessels in the fleet, with plans to restart one more ship this summer. 

Mein Schiff 1 and Mein Schiff 6 started Baltic cruises from Kiel. Either Stockholm or Gothenburg are called on the three to seven-day voyages. For the first time in Sweden, shore excursions are also possible again. 

Mein Schiff 5 is sailing roundtrip voyages from Crete through the Greek islands since mid-May.

Mein Schiff 4 starts on July 8th with cruises to Italy. The Mein Schiff 4 sets out from Genoa on two different, 7-day cruises that can be combined. The guests discover the Italian coast with additional French highlight ports such as Ajaccio / Corsica or Cannes. The port city of Civitavecchia is called on both routes and is perfect for a shore excursion to the eternal city of Rome organized or brokered by TUI Cruises.
